CoolOldGames.com’s mission is to:
Bring joy to people worldwide by informing them how and where to play games. Our research and expertise allow us to educate people as well as offer the best free games for them to experience.
Our goal is to help visitors understand how to play games, which strategies can be used, and where they can play these games. One of those places where they can play is our own library of free games!
We aim to be a kind and trustworthy source for people who either want to learn everything about a specific game or are simply looking to relax and play.
What started out in 2007 as a small website on classic tabletop game restoration has turned into a go-to resource for classic game lovers. We plan to continuously expand our collection of guides and free games while maintaining a high-quality standard.
Who is behind CoolOldGames.com? Get to know our dedicated team below!
Founder & Editor in Chief
Paul Dunlop is the Founder & Editor in Chief of CoolOldGames.com. His passion for tabletop games started a long time ago and has never left since.
Paul started searching online and discovered that while information about certain games could be found, it was not particularly in-depth or as detailed as he had hoped. This is when he decided to create his own guides.
He always has been glad to spread his love for classic games to his friends and relatives. With this website, he has been to share it with (potential) players worldwide. Paul especially hopes to keep classic games alive for the younger generations.
Writer & Games Fanatic
James is our most esteemed writer and publishes new guides on a regular basis. He is an absolute game fanatic. James has been playing a large selection of trading card games, classic card games, and board games for many years. Games are his hobby and part of this lifestyle.
James holds a degree in History which especially serves him well when it comes to the more classic games. Furthermore, it helps him in his research and fact-checking.
We base our editorial guidelines on the following core policies:
- First-hand experience
- Research and fact-checking
- Feedback and reiterations
While we can not guarantee our information to be one hundred percent correct always, we do pay great attention to the above-mentioned policies in order to maximize the chance of the information being correct.
Our writers have been playing games themselves for many years and are absolute fanatics. This results in them having played many of the games they write about. In case they haven’t played it yet, they will make sure to play it first before writing about it
Research and Fact-Checking
We take pride in our work, always striving for high quality and accuracy. This means research and fact-checking are needed. We make use of reliable sources online, such as other articles, forums, videos, and audio material. Books are also used, which means that even a visit to the library is not out of the question.
Feedback and Reiterations
We are always open to feedback and information that can make our content more accurate and complete. Readers can find a separate page on our website where visitors can send in their contributions and remarks. We take these contributions seriously and will always amend our content when inaccuracies are correctly pointed out.
