Single Deck Blackjack Quick Verdict
Is this game cool?
Definitely. How can blackjack in its purest form not be cool? Using just one deck oftentimes gives you the best odds compared to multi-deck games. I like it because fewer cards make the game easier to follow. Casinos like that less, so they often compensate with less player-friendly rules, such as paying 6:5 instead of 3:2 for blackjack.
Is this game old?
It is. Single Deck Blackjack was the standard format in Nevada casinos from the 1930s through the early 1960s. Multi-deck games began taking over after card counting became widely known following Edward Thorp’s Beat the Dealer in 1962.
